We went running yesterday for the first time in a week and a half. We ran 5 miles, tough but we did it. So we come back and both get in the shower. (We are in the hotel on base with the dogs, we still have no home) We are washing our hair and stuff (no this isn't going to get graphic or anything) and then the one thing that you wouldn't think would happen, did. The fire alarm went off. At this point you to try to wash everything off so that you don't have soap running in your eyes and all that other stuff that happens when you have to run out of the shower frantically. So the fire alarm is going off, lights are flashing and as we are trying to wash off whatever soap is left the water pressure goes to shit, non-existent, NO WATER!!
Tim yells at me to get out and find some clothes and put whatever on and get out. Of course all the clothes are downstairs. So I'm running around looking for something to put on. I grab a pair of pants (no underwear), I grab a t-shirt and sweatshirt on (no bra), put my shoes on (no socks), try and find the dog leashes and get out of the house before the AF comes breaking down the door and we are half naked standing in the living room trying to find clothes cause that is where they are were.
We get outside with my hair in a towel, shoes untied, dog pulling me in a every direction except the one that I want to go in and Tim is close behind me doing the same thing. Everyone on our block had to get out, 4 other apartments. It was fun.
We got out there and explained it was ours. The shower is right above the fire alarm and the shower isn't sealed so the water leaked right through. So the next thing I asked the fire chief is could I finish my shower, I mean my hair is completely filled with conditioner. He said no. I'm thinking how the hell am I going to get this out. Well our house has another shower so I went to use that one. Well it is a tub with the hose and head but no where on the wall could you put it up and rinse. Well then the water was either too hot or too cold. So I was either burning my scalp or in the first stages of hypothermia. It sucked.
The best part is that when the maintenance people came around later that evening to fix it they told me that they had to let it dry out and it would be fixed on Monday. So for some strange reason if my kitchen happens to catch on fire, the alarm won't go off. How comforting??
