So we have decided to put down a new floor in the hallway and paint a few rooms. We currently rent our house but talked to our landlords about the new floor and they were more than okay with us doing it especially since we are paying for it. We figured we still have about 2 more years here and it would be beneficial for us to do it. The hallway use to be carpet and we are putting down a cheap lament floor. It will be easier to keep clean and the smell of the dogs down. So we tore the floor up last night and Tim has started to put it down today. Interesting fact though, our house is crooked or at least the hallway. This posses a large problem. You can bang the boards together against something that isn't flush cause then the floor will be slanted right. So we figured to put a spacer in there to adjust the difference. Well the spacer is only for 1/4 inch the hallway is off by just about 1/2. Wonderful! Tim is having an interesting time doing it, I'm just trying to stay out of the way and keep the puppies busy. They want to sit right in front of him while he is doing it.
I on the other hand have been painting. It started with the master bathroom. It was like a pink and purple color and I hated it so I painted it a mocha color, it looks nice. Well the fixtures were old ladyish. They just looked like they belonged in a grandmother's house so I wanted to change those. So we went out and bought a new towel bar and toilet roll holder. Of course where I wanted to put the towel bar the wall was to short (and I didn't measure before I left the house). I figured that's okay, I'll keep what I have they will look great in the guest bathroom. I went to go and unscrew the towel bar and toilet paper holder only to find that they were glued on. So we pulled them off and part of the plaster came with it. So Tim patched it in gray plaster and I had to get yellow paint to repaint the entire bathroom. I taped off the top around the molding and around the door frame, etc. So I didn't get yellow paint every where (I'm a messy painter). I finish painting the bathroom, it drys and I start to pull off the tape around the molding. As I pull the tape off I'm also pulling the white molding paint off. I'm so pissed, now I have to paint the molding. It just wasn't in one spot either, is was along the entire bathroom where I had tape. How pissed was I? I put one coat of paint up there and it will probably take about 3 to fill in the rest. Such is life...
