I went out and bought the fabric to finish my friend's quilt and Chris if you are reading this please divert your eyes but I know you are busy so I'm hoping you aren't reading this and if you can't resist just act surprised at Christmas. Now that all the disclaimers are out of the way I bought the fabric to finish this quilt up. Below you will see the completed blocks along with some blue, red, and black fabric, next to that is the blue with white fabric, and lastly, Max's Xmas stocking fabric. It is Sesame Street with Elmo and Cookie Monster on it, who could resist.
Here is a closer look at the boy's stocking fabric...cute huh? I thought so.
I put the blue fabric under neath and laid the blocks on top
just to see what it would look like. I think it looks okay, but normally looks better once you put it all together or at least what I have found.
Here is my sketch of how the blocks are going to be laid out. I did this to determine how many stripes I need to cut for the bottom of each square. When learning to sew the woman told me that I just need to sew on the bottom of each block for each room. It is a little bit more confusing with stripes. But I determined I need
twelve 9" long x 2" wide stripes. So with the seam allowance the stripes will be 1 1/2 inches wide (1/4" seam allowance)
Here are all the stripes cut. Make sure you iron them before sewing them on the blocks.
This is where I stopped yesterday. My plan is to sew them on today and to cute the longer stripes to go between the joined rows. So until then.
