We finally have internet at our house, thank god. Not sure how much longer I was going to be able to go without it. I have been going nuts. Most of my house is set up. We are have a clothes issue and what I mean by that is that we have nothing to put them in.
See when we got married we didn't have anything. I think the only thing that we bought brand new was the kitchen table from Sam's for $250, this also included the chairs. It is a GREAT set and I love it but again, the only new thing.
We bought our washer and dryer at Hope Harbor where you bring your old appliances that still work. I think we paid $400 for both of them.
Our couches we found online and were a combo plaid pattern of red, green, blue, and I think light brown. Not bad, tolerable more or less. We paid $350 or $400 for a couch and loveseat. You know they are used when there is that one spot that everyone sits in. You know the spot, you sit down and your ass goes right to the floor. They worked for the time being.
Our bed was a metal frame with a mattress and box spring. The mattress was only about a year old when we got married so that was good as well.
The dressers that we had were both from when were kids. Tim's still had stickers on it from a radio station back home and mine the one of the tracks for the drawer to run on was broken so if you weren't careful the draw would make this loud WONK noise as it attempted to fall out of the dresser.
When we moved to England we had 3 dressers and one night stand. The 3 dressers turned to 2 when we had to put one of them in the very small hallway. So we got rid of it. And then there were 2.
We moved house again and in this house we had built in wardrobes. So we got rid of another dresser, Tim's. The final remaining dresser was suppose to be used for guests in the guest bedroom but we didn't get many of those so we opted finally to get rid of it. So we were left with a night stand for the guest bedroom. It still had enough room for them to maneuver around (hey, it's England, even the largest bedroom is small) and that worked for them and us.
Well we have moved once again to a kick ass house on the lake. I love it. the dogs love it and we are both really happy here, but....this house does not have built in wardrobes.
We have had to borrow some from the base, we have 3 and all of our hanging clothes fit fine in there but there is that issue of t-shirts and such to worry about.
So have gone the ghetto way and started using the window sile for the dressers. Don't laugh, it's working. You ask why not put the clothes on the floor. Well then the puppies would lay on them and get them all smelly and dirty. So we have to buy dressers. Kinda a long story to talk about clothes huh? oh well.
Other News:
I have become a Longaberger consultant. I haven't done anything about it yet. Still working on getting my samples.
Tim is the #2 guy in his shop. He has lots more to do so, thus, I don't see him before almost 5 every day.
I'm unemployed. To make a long story short the agency that I work for doesn't have any schools in this area for me to work at. The cloest one is like an hour or so away. So I'm going to have to try something else. The people on base keep telling me, "The commissary is hiring." Not sure I'm ready to go that low yet. We'll see though.
So I'm off...until I think of something else to say...

Congrats on the house! BTW, I know exactly what you mean about the hand-me-down furnishings...I've been married for 8 years now and I'm *STILL* trying to get rid of it!
Oh, and I was ROFLMAO at the WONK noise...mainly because mine does the same thing. It's the bottom drawer and I've smashed my toe sooo many times on that dang thing!
Good luck on the job hunt, I'm doing the same thing here. Sucks! But hang in there...there's always the A&C store?!?!
Hugs!

We don't have dressers either. Our bed is from an auction so it was just the bed and not the whole set. We found a kick ass armoire that was already wired for TV and such at a thrift store that is close enough to maching the color of the bed. Thank goodness it has some drawers in it because that is enough to hold the clothes that Robert has. My clothes are on shelves in our closet until we find a dresser that we like. The thing that sucks is that I need it find one that is the same color as the armoire because I don't want to have three colors of wood in our bedroom.
