Made for TV Movie(s)

Last night Pearl Harbor was on BBC3. Now I own this movie on DVD but I think I have only seen it once or twice. Why? Well I'm not really sure. It is a good movie and I enjoy watching it and outside of it being a little long I'm not sure why I haven't watched it more.

Since Tim and I have come to England and really just before we have acquired ALOT of movies and box sets. At the present moment I would say that we have about 250+ movies and well over 50 box sets. Now I was just thinking about this the other night as Tim and I were having movie night. There are obviously those movies that we watch over and over again like Anchorman, Tommy Boy, Animalhouse, Office Space, Super Troopers, and other movies that really have no real meaning but they are just flat out entertaining. Then there are those slightly more serious movies that we watch alot like Sahara which is both action packed and funny at the same time, although I'm not a Peneolph Cruz fan, I think she is terrible, but just an opinion. Other movies include National Treasure, 300, Lord of the Rings (any of the 3), and I'm sure there are more but again, we have alot and I forget some of them. Then there are those movies that you have to be in a mood for like anything war related and believe me, I think we have all of them: Braveheart, Black Hawk Down, We Were Soldiers, Patriot Games, Band of Brothers, and others like it. This catagory also include gangster movies such as Scarface, Goodfellas, and the Godfather movies (although I have never watched the 3rd one cause when I started it I thought it sucked so bad).

My point in all of this is this. Why is it when you own the movie on DVD do you not watch it but when it appears on TV you feel that you have to watch it cause (and how many times have you said this) "I haven't seen this in forever..." and watch the movie in its full length, which in reality is filled with commericals and they cut out some of the best stuff. Let's take Top Gun for example. We have all seen this movie on TV at one time or another and we have all see the DVD version, right? Well you know they always cut out that part with Tom Crusie and the girl there, where they play 'Take my Breath Away'. Normally you see him kiss her with just the silowetts (spelling) and then the next seen you see her wake up with this little paper airplane next to her. Now we all know what really happens but they dont' show it on TV. It is like at the end of the movie where Iceman (Val Kilmer) says,
"Hey you...! (pointing to Mavrick) "You are still dangerous, (he smiles) but you can be my wingman anytime"
Mavrick: Bullshit, you can be mine. (smiles, hugs, etc.)
Now the TV version Mavrick says "bullcrap" but it is a really bad voice over and he sounds like he has a frog in this throat. I feel like I'm the only one who has noticed this cause I'm going into way to much detail about something so stupid. Anyways, I like when they put those kind of movies on TV, I really like watching them over here cause when I was watching Pearl Harbor last night I didn't have to put up with any censorship. I had all the swear words and later I was flipping through and was watching the Devil's Advocate and again they showed everything, boobs, butt, swear words. England doesn't have strict censorship rules at all, which is probably why their children all devil spawn, well most of them are.
