So on my diet journey, it feels like a journey cause it has been so long, we have started running. I'm not a runner, never really have been. I played soccer most of my life and yes that involves alot of running but I ususally just did my mile or maybe 2 if I was lucky but for the most part after season, I stopped running. But about 2-3 weeks ago my ellipitical broke. I broke it cause it only goes to level 10 and I wanted just a bit more resistance than that and when I turned the resistance up I heard a pop and that was the end of it. It isn't electrical, the resistance is done by magnets and Tim said something about having to put a thingie on a thingie and whatever, it's broken. So I have started to run. I started out by running around 2 miles. Nice slow and steady pace but by the time I got to a certain point I was basically walking fast cause well I hate to run. I tried running with music and that just seemed to mess me up even more. Anyways, I was running what I thought to be about 2.5 miles and I was doing it in about 40 minutes or so. Two weeks ago Tim went running with me and he has a GPS heart rate monitor so it tracks how far, how fast, and how many calories you burned as well as your heart rate. It does more but that isn't the point of this story. So when we went running I found out that I had been running just over 3 miles (3.14). I was pretty impressed with myself and it wasn't all that hard either. So then we went and ran 4 miles one day and I thought I was going to die. Had to walk about 3 times but still did run most of it. Then yesterday we ran 5 miles and I did the whole thing without stopping and I did it in under and hour, 56:20 to be exact. I was ready to die the last quarter mile but still did it none the less. It is the farthest distance that I have ever run in my life. So I'm pretty impressed with myself. I have a 10K coming up in a few weeks so I'm trying to get ready for that. There is a 5K after that and if I win it (doubt it) I get a free turkey for Thanksgiving.
Since we have started all of this I haven't lost much weight but lost alot of inches. Here they are:
8 Sept 07 8 Oct 07 Total Lost
Hips 42.5 41.25 -1.25
Waist 42 38 -4
Chest 42.5 39 -3.5
Quad 22.75 21.5 -1.25
Calf 14.25 14 -.25
Biceps 12 12.5 +.5
Total -10.25
Still not ready to put before and after pictures up here yet either, but I did take some and they are only 3 weeks apart. I thought they were a month apart but when we went back and looked at the dates it was earlier than I thought, but I can see a difference. Anyways, that is all for the time being. Have to go and run soon....
